Gozem is changing the digital narratives in the francophone countries with a launching of super app that enables a host of services to be done by clients. The super app has features that caters for transport, , e-commerce and fintech. Gozem just raised $5Million in Series A funding to better its services in the francophone markets. The start-up firm was founded by Gregory Costamagna, Raphael Dana, and Emeka Ajene in 2018 as motorcycle ride-hailing service. The Togo-Singapore based company received investment from AAIC, Thunes (Transfer To) Momemtum Ventures(SMRT), Innoport Ventures(National Express) and Liil(Mobility ADO). This funding followed the $7Million raised in the past. The three parts funding happened through investors like U.S firm Plug and Play, Venture Launch Africa, BANSEA and Virtual network. The sum of over $12Million has been raised by Gozem. Gozem’s success in Togo and Benin was clutched by the pandemic caused by Covid-19 in 2020. The start-up adapted the company’s operations by introducing e-commerce platform and logistics play to merchants. Soon after the company launched as asset financing alternative for its drivers which is lease own model for vehicles and related equipments. The chairman of Gozem Gregory Costamagna said the business model is to make the three verticals work together to help the income of the drivers and merchants. He also affirmed, “So people, merchants, suppliers, companies, that find a lot of interest working with them, will then work hard and provide a lot of different services to our customer base.” Since the start of the operations Gozem has given 1,500 vehicles to drivers in a lease model Costamagna affirmed. The funding would increase Gozem’s brand in the marketplace, the start-up firm has a vision of increasing its members to 200,000 by 2025.
